<aside> 👋🏻 My name is Simona Bisiani, I am a 2022-2026 PhD Candidate at the Surrey Institute for People-Centred AI, based in the Centre for Vision, Speech, and Signal Processing (CVSSP) at the University of Surrey. My first supervisor is **Dr Bahareh Heravi,** my second is **Dr Eddy Zhu,** and my third is Prof Agnes Gulyas.

I am a computational social scientist currently researching the spatial distribution of local news content in the UK from a variety of perspectives. My work handles large amounts of text data, using NLP and text mining techniques.

During the PhD, I have also covered positions as:

  1. Teaching Assistant and Teaching Fellow for a module in People-Centred AI at the University of Surrey (both in 2023/24 and 2024/25)
  2. Research Assistant under Prof Gulyas at Canterbury Christ Church University
  3. Data Architect at the Public Interest News Foundation, working on the Local News Map project
